Providing interim logistics and supply chain services since 2007
Based in Bedfordshire in the centre of the United Kingdom, I specialize in the commercial development of logistics, supply chain and maritime transport operations and offer expertise to clients throughout the UK. I offer commercial consultancy services, including short or long-term interim and project management services. Whether you’re a bank or private-equity house, ship-owner or manager, freight services provider or SME, I aim to help you thrive in the current market. I bring extensive experience and professionalism to every case and customize my support to your individual needs and concerns. My recent market research in the freight and maritime transport sector has reflected three clear demands from market participants. You asked for:
Sound commercial, organizational development AND technical expertise
Formal project management skills that can handle 'uncertainty'
Value-for-money and effective cost-management
I’ve been active in the maritime and transport industries for over thirty five years and have experience at board level and international senior management of large multi-site organizations as well as SME, both within the UK and overseas. I have experience of leading commercial operations within major shipping and port services companies, supply chain and cargo services consultancies as well as regional liner trade and project cargo operations. My recent experience includes management consultancy and non-executive board roles in both shipping and UK port and transport services. I undertake to offer you exceptional commercial and technical support.
How I can help you…
I help strengthen management capabilities, lead business transformation and change. I am cost-effective and deliver tangible results, I don't simply develop 'initiatives' which are then left for someone else to implement. I offer clients considerable experience in the commercial and operational management of transport-related businesses. My experience includes break-bulk, reefer, dry-bulk and containerized operations as well as project cargo for offshore construction, heavy-lift and sub-sea operations. I offer services for private-equity or venture capital houses, transport operators, insurers, admiralty lawyers and ship owners. The constant pressure on revenue streams and diminishing profits can bring high levels of complexity to supply chain operations particularly in terms of cost management, commercial and operational 'risk'. That’s where I come in.
ORGANIZATIONAL business development
A business needs to transfer the owners’ or board's ambitions into action or it will remain as just 'wishful thinking'. I offer to help exploit the potential growth opportunities identified as part of the strategy planning process. I aim to integrate the knowledge and benefits contained within a client's specialist technical or commercial operations with chosen market sectors to generate sales. I’m experienced in creating a platform from which to sell, closing sales, management finance and consulting and can help ensure that an organization can implement growth opportunities successfully.
The way organizations 'manage' is constantly under scrutiny and can be a source of significant risk to projects and entire organizations. So I offer project management services to provide a best practice solution. I use PRinCE2, a proven and truly global methodology, to control all the uncertainties that arise in a project, such as cost, time, risk, scope, quality and benefit. PRinCE2 is flexible enough to be tailored to the specific needs of ALL organizations and management cultures and provides a high level of assurance for the success of your project. My project services are ideal in any sector of the freight transport and maritime industries.
With my considerable industry experience, I offer to help develop your business strategy and then supply the means by which your firm can achieve its objectives. I’m capable of seeing your business issues in a broad perspective and can bring independence and initiative. Strategy planning can often simply be described as long-term business planning and will typically cover a period of about three to five years. I’m particularly keen to help firms with a specific difficulty and offer to support a business on a part-time or 'non-executive' basis and so provide real 'value-for-money'.
